Course Side Dish
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Brussels sprouts fresh, clean and trimmed
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp chile garlic paste like Sambal Oelek
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Balsamic glaze for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 425°F or an Air Fryer to 400°f.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, butter, vinegar, chile garlic paste, salt and pepper until well combined. Set aside.
  • Cut sprouts in half from root to tip, place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour sauce mixture over the sprouts and use gloved hands to rub it into the sprouts. Be sure to really coat the sprouts evenly.
  • Line a sheet tray with foil (or the bottom of the air fryer basket with a disposable liner).Spread the sprouts out into one layer, turning all the sprouts cut side down. Do not overcrowd the sheet tray. This will cause the sprouts to steam instead of roast, giving them a completely different texture and flavor profile.
  • Roast the sprouts in the hot oven for 15-20 minutes or until charred and fragrant. Alternatively, roast the sprout in an air fryer for 15 minutes or until the same results are achieved.
  • Remove sprouts from the oven and pile onto a serving platter. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired for an extra delicious and fancy touch.
